Snow Today in Northern Idaho

Brownie loved snow. She’d leap through it like a fawn. For a dog who couldn’t walk in a straight line, she glided through the air above the snow. That was difficult for a dog always being on a leash.

We always feared her getting hurt, running away or being stolen. Something that happened in our neighborhood, unfortunately!

On a beautiful summer evening in Indiana, we let Brownie out to do her business, and got caught up in dishes and household chores. After turning out the lights and heading for bed, we heard a dog howling outside. “Who could leave their dog outside in the dark?” We jumped out of bed and looked for Brownie in the house. Not finding her, we ran to the back door and finding our poor little sweet dog sitting there, waiting for us, and quick to forgive a silly human mistake.

It was an embarassing moment, but Brownie wanted to stay with us and so she did for eighteen plus years.

Hi, I'm Gregory Lamberty. I wrote "For the Love of Our Dog Brownie". Brownie was our dog. She lived eighteen and a half years. My wife Colleen took care of Brownie, trained her and took care of her. Colleen was the one who inspired me to write about Brownie. Colleen's training and love set Brownie apart from other dogs. That was what made her special.
