“Still dark,” Brownie moaned and fell back asleep.

A couple of hours later, the little dog heard the sounds of footsteps approaching from the hallway. The kitchen lights flooded the laundry room as Lauren flipped them on. It was the start of another Monday morning. Brownie assured of her safety, thought, Thank you Dear Jesus for saving me.

Then ten-year-old Lauren appeared.

“Are you all right, Brownie?”

She swept down from above Brownie’s crate reached in and picked her up, hugging and kissing the little dog.

“I had a terrible dream about you last night. I’m so sorry about all the trouble you endured before you came here. I’ll do everything I can to protect you,” Lauren whispered into Brownie’s ear.

Hi, I'm Gregory Lamberty. I wrote "For the Love of Our Dog Brownie". Brownie was our dog. She lived eighteen and a half years. My wife Colleen took care of Brownie, trained her and took care of her. Colleen was the one who inspired me to write about Brownie. Colleen's training and love set Brownie apart from other dogs. That was what made her special.
