Lauren’s two older brothers, thirteen-year-old Drew and twelve-year-old Nathan, entered the kitchen dressed in their work clothes. Mom followed close behind.

“You better move fast making that breakfast,” Drew laughed.

“Right Mom,” Nathan joined in the conversation.

Lauren placed Brownie back on the laundry room floor, closed its door and said, “We’ll have breakfast on time.”

“If you don’t finish your chores on time, you’ll go to school without eating,” Mom cautioned.

Dad walked into the kitchen followed by two of Lauren’s younger brothers: Jack, age eight and six-year-old Connor.

You heard your mother. There is only so much time to finish your chores. I’ll be out there in a couple of minutes,” Dad said.

Hi, I'm Gregory Lamberty. I wrote "For the Love of Our Dog Brownie". Brownie was our dog. She lived eighteen and a half years. My wife Colleen took care of Brownie, trained her and took care of her. Colleen was the one who inspired me to write about Brownie. Colleen's training and love set Brownie apart from other dogs. That was what made her special.
