August 7th The Weekend is Just Around the Corner

“Quit stalling! I have to go to school,” Jack said.

“I need to poop first, then we can go,” Brownie whined.

“Go now or it’s back to the laundry room. Then you’ll have to wait til noon.”

Brownie pooped practically on command and dashed to the door, draggging Jack behind her.

“Slow down dog, you’re going to knock me down,” Jack sputtered. He knocked on the door. Lauren opened it. Before Jack and Brownie could enter, Drew and Nathan ran past them.

“We better change clothes fast or we’ll be late for our ride,” they said to each other.

“Pushy!” Jack mumbled.

Drew and Nathan didn’t care. They rushed upstairs.

Why did they do that? I was almost stepped on by Nathan, Brownie thought.

Jack brought the dog into the laundry room and removed her harnass and leash, filled her bowls with dog food and water and shut the door.

Breakfast was ready. The family gathered around the kitchen table. Dad led them in prayer thanking Jesus for their food. Unknown to the rest of the family Brownie bowed her head during the prayer, thanking God for her new home.

Hi, I'm Gregory Lamberty. I wrote "For the Love of Our Dog Brownie". Brownie was our dog. She lived eighteen and a half years. My wife Colleen took care of Brownie, trained her and took care of her. Colleen was the one who inspired me to write about Brownie. Colleen's training and love set Brownie apart from other dogs. That was what made her special.
