Mom first dropped off the two youngest boys, Jack and Connor at the Farmville Elementary. Then she drove the other three children to the George-Ville Middle School. The school day passed peacefully. Lauren, Drew and Nathan patiently waited for Mom and the red van. Lauren beat Drew to the front passenger seat. She was about to ask Mom about freeing Brownie when Mom spoke up with a surprising solution.

“Lauren,” she began, “before we can free Brownie from the laundry room, you need to train her to stay off the carpet, and I thought of a way you can do it! You can train her outside in the backyard. She’ll be free of the laundry room and in the kitchen but not allowed in the rest of the house.”

Hi, I'm Gregory Lamberty. I wrote "For the Love of Our Dog Brownie". Brownie was our dog. She lived eighteen and a half years. My wife Colleen took care of Brownie, trained her and took care of her. Colleen was the one who inspired me to write about Brownie. Colleen's training and love set Brownie apart from other dogs. That was what made her special.
