The tenth Installment of Chapter 2 of Volume 2 Of “For The Love of Our Dog Brownie” awaits below.
“Still think you’ll free Brownie from the laundry room?” Drew teased as he hung up his coat.
“I sure do! Mom and Jack are making it a challenge, but I’ll get it done!” Lauren said with a slight smile.
Drew and Nathan ran upstairs and changed into their work clothes. They met Dad at the back door. Lauren watched as he led the two boys out to the sheep barn. She gazed out the kitchen window. She saw Rheims and Drew emerge fro the barn’s side door. Drew took a ball out of his coat pocket and tossed it to the Australian Shepherd. After Rheims returned the ball, Drew tossed it into the backyard. Rheims ran after it, jumping over the fence to retrieve it. Dad saw the trick and a concerned look spread across his leathered face.
“Be careful, Drew. We don’t want Rheims to break a leg. He is our only herding dog.”
“Oh, okay Dad,” Drew said.
Maybe Brownie could be a herding dog like Rheims. She’s half Australian Shepherd. But being a herding dog wouldn’t make Brownie the best in Northeastern Indiana.
Drew tossed the ball to Rheims only a couple more times before leading him back into the barn. Lauren, really impressed by Rheims’ athletic skills, thought Maybe Brownie will do that someday.
Maybe Mom can give me some training tips!
